Quail are small, plump ground-dwelling birds that are found in many parts of the world. There are over 20 species of quail, and they vary in size and color. These are hunted and sold in the market because of their delicious meat.

Quail are typically found in grasslands, woodlands, and brushy areas. Quail bird lives on the ground only. About 10 species of quail are found in India. These are omnivores, and their diet consists of seeds, insects, and other small animals. It cannot fly long distances and prefers to build a nest on the ground. Quail are social birds, and they often live in groups called coveys.

Quails are 5 inches to 10 inches long size.

Quail has excellent eyesight, and it can see predators from a long distance.

Quail is also very good at running, and it can reach speeds of up to 10 – 20 miles per hour.

Egg production starts when the quail is more than 7 weeks old.
